LE 11EME ARRONDISSEMENT

The 11th district of Marseille is one of the administrative divisions of the city.

It is situated in the east of the municipality.

The 11th district of Marseille includes 11 districts : Accates, Barasse, Camoins, Éoures, Millière, La Pomme, Saint-Menet, Saint Marcel, Valbarelle and Valentine.

This district is a former industrial zone : in fact, during the 20s it was an energic working zone. Nowadays we can see different marks of this past, just looking at the buildings and homes. We can see different sorts of homes like workers' houses or accommodation provided with the job. Actually this melting pot of different working classes gave the face of a heterogeneous district. A mix between small and big villas and buildings, not far from the city center. This district is also surrounded with large plaines and fields ! Don't forget that a part of the district was immense fields before, where you can now find private properties or malls. So if you want do some shopping that is the best place to go ! lol

Even if at first sight, it isn’t the most attractive part of Marseille concerning tourism this district is part of the historic memory of the phocean city.
